Theory of Change
… posits that instructional coaches are critical to helping teachers build their capacity and change their instructional practice in ways that will improve student outcomes. To be successful, coaches need skillful mentoring, and both coaches and mentors need multiple, ongoing collaborative professional learning opportunities in order to support teachers and promote state standards which are recognized as essential to improving student outcomes. TPIIC will collaborate with schools systems to design programs and services to meet these needs. The TPIIC programs of study will focus on career and college readiness for the 21st century by helping teachers to develop and refine the skills that will improve instructional practice, academic outcomes, and increase student engagement. TPIIC will also work to build capacity and support among school leaders – skilled leaders, knowledgeable about instructional coaching who recognize the value of one-on-one coaching – are essential. A carefully designed evidence-based process of review will ensure that continuous improvement strategies are the focus for implementation of an effective instructional coaching model.
